One Down!

Joe Garcia and I just finished teaching a three-day watercolor workshop in Chester, California. Chester is a small mountain town in the shadow of Mt. Lassen - where the Cascades meet the Sierras. We're staying right on the edge of Lake Almanor - along with the Canada Geese, Ibis and Sandhill Cranes. We had rain and cool temperatures for the first few days but temps for the second workshop will be in the 90's.  Aghh!

We're teaching in watercolor but Joe's demos are more transparent while mine are opaque. Using my transparent watercolor palette, I add white to my middle to lighter values, working from dark to light as in oil. It's a good way of working plein air in watercolor, especially if you're travelling and can't take oil solvents in your luggage. Today is our day of rest then tomorrow starts another three day workshop. We have a total of fifty enthusiastic students!

On Saturday night, June 29th, Joe and I are having a mini-show at Deb Groesser's Blue Goose Gallery on Main Street in Chester.  We're showing about ten little oils each.  If you're in the area, stop by and say hello!

The workshop was wonderful. I have committed to drawing or painting daily. Life changing opportunity to work with you both. Thank you for caring enough to share your talent, expertise and love of your art.
